 Getting it’s name from the Latin ‘caelestis’, meaning “heavenly”; an allusion to its color, celestite or celstine is a very popular mineral because of its typical sky blue or ‘celestial’ color. Often forming beautiful transparent light to medium-blue tabular crystals, celestite can be colorless, white, light red, green, blue, or brown. It is often found in colorful combinations with minerals such as yellow sulphur. Although celestite can look similar to barite, it is actually strontium sulphate, and has long been used as a source of strontium for fireworks, glazes and metal alloys.

It forms in sedimentary rock such as limestones, dolomites, and sandstones. It can also be derived directly from sea water and commonly occurs in evaporate deposits as a minor constituent; occasionally it forms in hydrothermal deposits. The crystals take a wide variety of forms but are typically tablet, prism, or plate shaped. It can also form crusts, nodules, grains and masses. Celestite may also be found in the cavities of fossils. It is known to form, for example, in fossilized ammonites. It can be found in Madagascar, Mexico, Italy, Canada, England, and the US; lesser known specimens have been found in England, Slovakia, Austria, and Germany.

In ancient Greece it was believed that the stone only worked if it had been given to its owner by a friend or relative. It would then protect the body from all kinds of evil. The ancient Romans were also familiar with the healing properties of celestite, its calming, fortifying influence on the mind and its ability to drive evil out of a person. The stone encourages the healing of wounds and is said to be effective in alleviating pain caused by tension, anxiety and in solving problems with insomnia. It is connected to both Capricorn and Gemini star signs.

Celestite is revered for its high frequency and Divine energies, and is known as a powerful healing crystal. Celestite has been called “Heaven’s Stone or Angelic Stone” as it will connect one with the Angelic realms, allowing for the free-flow of these higher frequencies into the Crown and Third-Eye Chakras, and also down into the Throat Chakra for expression. Celestite is also known to bring mental calm and clarity in the midst of any chaotic circumstance.

Using celestite with sincere prayer or meditation one can channel angelic wisdom and communications. Celestite is a great tool for meditation on any subject, bringing in perfect angelic universal energy to the effort. It helps block out distracting "noise" and focus on other planes of existence. The Ancient Lore of Bloodstone

In the ancient world, Bloodstone (Heliotrope) was considered to be the most beautiful of the Jaspers, a deep, earthy green gem emboldened with spots of bright red. Called the Sun Stone, and later Christ’s Stone, its energy carries the purity of blood and inherently speaks of life and birth, vitality and strength, passion and courage. As a talisman it is both mystical and magical, and its virtues are protective and nurturing.

Metaphysical Lore:
There is a legend that says the bloodstone was formed from the blood of Christ dripping on the green earth and solidifying. It was also called heliotrope by the Greeks and was thought to bring change. The bloodstone has been used as an amulet to protect against the evil eye. Bloodstone is the symbol of justice.

Bloodstone is excellent for centering and grounding. It is said to help with calming, particularly in survival situations. It brings mystical energies of increasing adaptability and organization, and lessening confusion, stress, and anxiety. It is said to be a stone of courage, bringing mental, physical and emotional renewal by releasing blockages. It is said to be particularly good for helping emotional traumas and grief. It also enhances the intellect. Bloodstone is mystically used to bring energy to one in many ways, including bringing abundance, success, and prosperity.

Pink Hues of Rose Quartz

Rose quartz, a variety of quartz that ranges from pale pink to deep rose, and sometimes even to an amethyst hue. Generally, rose quartz is massive in form and is rarely found as crystals. It is sometimes used as a semiprecious stone, and takes an impressive polish. Chemically, rose quartz is silicon dioxide. It has a Moh’s hardness of 7, and is in the trigonal crystal system. Rose quartz occurs worldwide; in the western hemisphere it occurs in Brazil, Uruguay, Ontario, Mexico, Main, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Colorado.

It emits a calming, cooling energy which can work on all of the chakras to gently remove negativity and to reinstate the loving, gentle forces of self-love. It can be used for spiritual attunement to the energy of love. It also provides a balancing of yin-yang energy and can attune each chakra to, and provide each chakra with, the proper frequency of energy vibration. Traditional properties of rose quartz include love, peace, happiness, gentleness, and healing emotional wounds.

Hues of Golden, Bright Yellow....Citrine

Golden Yellow and bright like the Sun, it is Citrine a most beautiful gemstone.

The name Citrine is derived from the Latin word Citrus, meaning “lemon”. Until the Middle Ages this name was used to designate a wide range of yellow stones. Citrine has been highly regarded as a gemstone and healing stone for almost six thousand years. The soldiers in Caesar’s legions wore citrine on their chest because the stone was believed to have life-saving properties in battle. 

As befits its color, it is recognized as the stone of light, sun and life. (Did you know…..that amethyst and smoky quartz can be heated to artificially create citrine?) Some traditional properties of Citrine include intuition, comfort, protection, creativity, physical energy, wealth, and mental awakening.

Citrine is yellow to brownish quartz (silicon dioxide) and resembles yellow topaz. It is colorless by hydrous iron oxide, and is found in the same hexagonal crystals as the other varieties of crystalline quartz. Natural citrine is much less common than amethyst or smoky quartz, both of which can be heat treated to turn their color to that of citrine.

Citrine occurs principally in localities that produce amethyst, and it is sometimes found as a zone of citrine in amethyst, when it is known as ametrine (found in Bolivia). Gem-quality citrine is found in a few places around the world such as on the Isle of Arran, Scotland; in the Ural Mountains of Russia; near Hyderabad, India; in Dauphine, France; and quite frequently in Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Unique Amethyst Crystal Healing

Spirit Quartz is also sometimes referred to as Fairy Quartz or Cactus Quartz, and originates from Africa. When it was discovered by the local tribes in Mphumalanga, South Africa, it was hailed immediately for its beauty and distinct and powerful energy. The tribes named it Spirit Quartz because the milky lilac color of the stone was similar to that of mentholated spirits, an alcohol based cleaning agent that is widely used in that area. Some of the stones are a pure white with clear spots, others have inclusions of amethyst in their bodies and take on purple shades that can range in very light color that blend heavily with the clear and white of the quartz to being so dark that the pieces look as those they are mainly amethyst. Typically Spirit Quarts are found in points, wands and clusters and looks similar to Druzy Quartz because of the sparkly, bumpy surface of the stone. Once you see a Spirit Quartz you know there is no mistaking it from any other stone and it becomes a very distinguishable piece in any collection. Spirit Quartz is not terribly hard to come by but can be pricey depending on the piece itself. Currently it is only mined from one location in the world, Magaliesberg, South Africa.
 

Spirit Quartz is a stone that is used heavily in meditation and can help to provide insights into problems with friends, family and loved ones when used in meditation. Spirit Quartz has been used in group healing since it was first found and first used by the tribal healers in Africa. The stone promotes cohesiveness and a willingness to work together so it can be placed in the center of a group who may be working together to deal with difficulties or work out problems, especially one that are related to spiritual and emotional healing. It can be placed in a central place in the home if there are tensions among family members to help bring ease and a willingness to work together. This gives the stone an overall feeling of being a stone of togetherness and harmony and be used effectively for any of those issues.
Spirit Quartz can also be used for dream work, specifically lucid dreaming, as well as for astral projection, and can stimulate physical healing in areas of the body that might be out of harmony with the body as a whole. One way that Spirit Quartz can be used in healing is an amplifier for other stones used in chakra cleansing or balancing. Placing stones on the chakras to balance and align them is a common healing practice, but by including the Spirit Quartz, either at the crown chakra or directly next to another stone on a particularly difficult chakra point, you will find that the areas open up and balance quickly.

Spirit Quartz can work with any other crystal or stone and is a great piece to have as a point in your crystal tool kit as it can help to amplify other stones, can be used to help direct energy in healing work, and can also balance and cleanse other stones when they are placed in Spirit Quartz clusters or on top of flat Spirit Quartz points.
