Native copper is used to make these artistic free-form sculptures. No two are alike and the shapes are open to many different interpretations. Splash copper is made by pouring molten copper at 2200 degrees F onto a flat surface. When the shapes are cooled, a green or turquoise-colored chemical patina is applied, and then highlights are buff polished to expose the glowing solid copper underneath.

The sculptures are sprayed to preserve the finish and to prevent the copper from tarnishing. Copper is a basic element (Cu) and is the 8th most abundant metal in the Earth’s crust. It occurs as a native metal and in a some 160 compounds, such as azurite, malachite, chrysocolla, and chalcopyrite, not to mention its alloys, bronze (an alloy of tin and copper); and brass (an alloy of zinc and copper).
Metaphysical Lore:
Copper is considered a mineral of energy and mental agility. In legend, copper is said to be the metal of the God Hermes, who facilitates that mental agility, and quick wit. Copper is also an excellent conductor of energy, from electricity to the mystical subtle energies emanating from higher planes, etc. Thus, copper is said to enhance and transmit thoughts, even over long distances. Copper is known as the lucky metal too, as well as the healing metal. It is the conductor of the spiritualist’s belief system. Copper conducts spiritual energy back and forth between individuals, crystals, auras, the mind and the spirit world. It is linked with the Divine and attributes to the Queen of Heaven. Any stone with Copper, in or around it, is said to have enhanced properties and is said to be good for the heart and root Chakras.

The Ancient Lore of Bloodstone

In the ancient world, Bloodstone (Heliotrope) was considered to be the most beautiful of the Jaspers, a deep, earthy green gem emboldened with spots of bright red. Called the Sun Stone, and later Christ’s Stone, its energy carries the purity of blood and inherently speaks of life and birth, vitality and strength, passion and courage. As a talisman it is both mystical and magical, and its virtues are protective and nurturing.

Metaphysical Lore:
There is a legend that says the bloodstone was formed from the blood of Christ dripping on the green earth and solidifying. It was also called heliotrope by the Greeks and was thought to bring change. The bloodstone has been used as an amulet to protect against the evil eye. Bloodstone is the symbol of justice.

Bloodstone is excellent for centering and grounding. It is said to help with calming, particularly in survival situations. It brings mystical energies of increasing adaptability and organization, and lessening confusion, stress, and anxiety. It is said to be a stone of courage, bringing mental, physical and emotional renewal by releasing blockages. It is said to be particularly good for helping emotional traumas and grief. It also enhances the intellect. Bloodstone is mystically used to bring energy to one in many ways, including bringing abundance, success, and prosperity.

Just a bit of Selenite

Selenite is a variety of gypsum, which is readily cleaved into natural wands, sticks or sheets. It is a very soft stone which can be easily scratched with a fingernail. The name selenite comes from the Greek word Selene, meaning moon. It has been used for window panes, metaphysical tools, carved into shapes such as spheres and hearts. Some of the best, clearest and cleanest selenite comes from the Moroccan deserts.

Metaphysical Lore:
Selenite is one of the more powerful healing stones for the new age and spiritual work. It is excellent for meditation, and ensures a peaceful environment when stones are placed around the home. They are remarkably peaceful, carrying a very high vibration, and instill clarity of mind and a deep sense of inner peace. Selenite will assist you in opening your crown chakra and it can even assist you in contacting your Spiritual Guides and Angels. Selenite is also used to cleanse and clear other crystals and negative energies. You will never need to cleanse or recharge your Selenite crystal, as you need to do with many metaphysical stones; it is said that it does not retain the negative energy it clears but sends it out.
